after clickin' the link, remove the "url" at the adress bar, and press return... to go to the folder...

use the very Latest 7Zip (4.64) or the very latest WinRar... both work... right click on the .001 or 7zip file and choose "extract to..." followed by a short path name, somewere like c:games\ or d:games\
also check your config "inside 7zip)... there you can choose some things which might be helpful.
